Cranberry Margaritas
San Antonio Texas loves margaritas and this one will help you Feliz Navidad all holiday season long!
Ingredients
2 oz cranberry juice
1 oz fresh lime juice
1.5 oz blanco tequila (I like Altos)
½ Cointreau or Triple Sec
¼ oz agave or simple syrup (recipe below)
Directions
Step 1
Unless you are using agave nectar, make your simple syrup.
Bring equal parts sugar and water (at least ½ cup each) to boil in a small saucepan, then lower temperature and allow to simmer for a few minutes until sugar is dissolved and mixture slightly thickens. If you dare, make it spicy! Slice a fresh jalapeno and cook with the simple syrup mixture. Let sit until it cools then strain into a container and store in the refrigerator. The resulting syrup won’t burn your mouth but will give you a pleasant little tingle at the end of each sip. C’mon! You dare, don’t you?
Pro Tip: wear gloves while slicing the fresh jalapenos. You do not want to touch your eyes after handling them barehanded. Trust.
Step 2
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker, give a few good shakes, then strain into a cocktail glass over ice.
Pro Tip: Prepare your cocktail glasses ahead of time by rimming them with salt or sugar before adding ice. At my house we either use red and green decorating sugar or Tajin, if we’re feeling extra spicy.
Step 3
Sip, enjoy, repeat!
